Board of Advisors

The Georgia Federation of Public Service Employees established an Advisory Board to provide advice and counsel as requested by the Executive Director and President. The Georgia Federation of Public Service Employees is a member-driven and member-led organization. The Board provides feedback and strategic guidance to the organization’s leadership team. Board members play a crucial role in helping the Georgia Federation of Public Service Employees make informed decisions. They help steer the organization in the right direction and ensure that it stays on track in providing quality advocacy for public employees and top-notch benefits for our members.

Champions of Public Service and Community Engagement

Board members bring a wealth of diverse experience and expertise to the table. They are Georgia Federation of Public Service Employees members who work at the agencies where we exist. They have a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing public employees and public employers. Board members typically attend community and employer events on behalf of the Georgia Federation of Public Service Employees. They serve on various committees, attend conferences, and help recruit new members. The Board of Advisors meets quarterly.

About Simone

Ms. Simone Anastasia Roberts is a Community Outreach Specialist in the Department of Procurement for the City of Atlanta. She is a long-term City employee, with previous roles in the Mayor’s Office, the Offices of Constituent Services, and Special Events.

Simone brings a unique perspective to building community and creating impactful spaces. She is passionate about connecting people with resources and information, fostering collaboration, and developing systems that enhance community engagement. As a creative problem-solver, she is dedicated to making a positive impact through thoughtful outreach.

Ms. Roberts holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design, certifications in Administration and Meeting & Events Management, as well as extensive experience in the hospitality industry and construction industry as an electrician.

About Tara

Ms. Tara Shelton has been an educational professional for 25 years. Ms. Shelton has served as a special and general education teacher for PK-5. She has also served as a preschool behavior specialist, a Social Emotional Learning Coach and Coordinator, and the PBIS District Coordinator for APS.

Currently, she serves as the Coordinator of Police Intervention Practices with the APS Police Department. This role works collaboratively with the School Resource Officers to provide training, support, and input on alternatives to filing criminal charges, thereby reducing student exposure to the criminal justice system.

Tara received both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in the areas of Special Education. She is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, and the proud parent of Brooke Shelton, a 2024 graduate of Booker T. Washington High School.

About Anthony

Mr. Anthony Hill has over a decade of professional experience in human resources. He is a dedicated leader who fosters organizational success and promotes compliance. As a Compliance Specialist for the City of Atlanta Department of Labor and Employment Services, Anthony monitors state and federal labor law legislation and educates Atlanta’s small business owners and community-based organizations on labor rights.

Anthony’s diverse HR background includes his role as a Human Resource Coordinator for the City of College Park, where he excelled in employee onboarding, compensation review, benefits administration, training, labor relations, and compliance oversight. His expertise extends to the mental health industry, where he aligned HR practices with business strategies to enhance organizational effectiveness.

Anthony holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources and a Master’s in Business Management. Outside his professional endeavors, he is devoted to his family and treasures time with his wife and two sons.
