Divine Nine Committee
FPSE Divine Nine Committee
The Divine Nine organizations emerged during a time of racial segregation and inequality in the United States, particularly within higher education. Black students were often excluded from existing fraternities and sororities, leading them to establish their own organizations. These organizations provided a space for intellectual growth, social support, and community engagement, fostering a sense of identity and purpose.
The Divine Nine has greatly influenced Black communities and the larger American society. They have been involved in various social justice movements, including the Civil Rights Movement, and have promoted education, public service, and leadership development.
The Divine Nine Include
Uniting for Service and Community
Recognizing that FPSE membership includes many Divine Nine members and considering our shared values of community service, mentorship, political engagement, and public education, the FPSE Divine Nine Committee was created. Working through the Georgia Federation of Public Service Employees (FPSE), committee members take initiative and lead on projects at their campuses or workplaces. Through FPSE, we collaborate on projects that uplift our colleagues and communities, and we have fun too!

Joining the FPSE Divine Nine Committee
The FPSE Divine Nine meets quarterly over a sponsored dinner. Throughout the year, we support one another's projects, and once a year, the FPSE Divine Nine Committee leads a major community project. We are committed to making a difference and making memories!
If you'd like to join our FPSE Divine Committee or help start a chapter at your workplace, please contact Alan Lee at ALee@GeorgiAFPSE.org or (404) 480-8525.
