Atlanta Public Schools (APS) is a school district based in AtlantaGeorgia. APS is governed by the Atlanta Board of Education with an appointed superintendent to run the day-to-day affairs. The Board consists of nine members, representing six geographical districts and three “at-large” districts. Board members serve a 4-year terms.  Atlanta Public Schools has 87 learning sites, including 58 neighborhood schools, 5 partner schools, 19 charter schools, 2 citywide single-gender academies, and 3 alternative programs. The district has approximately 50,000 students and 7,000 employees.

  • Each member automatically receives a $20,000 life insurance benefit as part of their membership dues.  Our first responders, including Police Officers, Fire Fighters and Corrections Officers receive $50,000. - FPSE Provided Disability Benefit for Members

  • Each member automatically receives a Long-Term Disability benefit as part of their membership dues.  If a member is hurt on or off the job and is unable to work, they will receive $500 a month for up to (5) five years to assist them with their expenses. Each year the FPSE Family Scholarship Programs provides financial support to our members their children and grandchildren.  Members attending an accredited college or university are eligible for scholarship assistance.  Children and grandchildren of members who are graduating high school seniors may apply as well.  This scholarship may be used for any field of study. The application period is January 1st – March 15th.

Eligibility:

  • At time of application be a member in good standing for at least one-year
  • Be enrolled in a community college or university taking course work in any field of study
  • For children and grandchildren be a graduating high school senior
  • Return completed application and required documentation by March 15th.
